Vezhen peak is 2198 m high, seventh highest in Bulgaria and is the leader of the Zlatishko-Tetevenska mountain. Located 3,5 km to eastward of the Balkan Mountain’s Koncheto saddle. The summit is a wide flat plateau and its slopes are separated by steep valleys. It offers a panoramic view of Sredna Gora, Rila and Pirin mountains, and in good weather the central ridge of the Balkan Mountains. To the north of the summit is located the Tsarichina Reserve. Balkan pine is growing on the slopes of Vezhen peak – the northernmost habitat of the species. This is the only pine in Bulgaria that has its needles growing in bundles of five.
